Chichester continues to win

Josh Hankins, 5’11 senior and Coppin State baseball recruit scored 23 points as the Eagles improve to 3-0 after beating Chester Charter, 53-39.

Lyons paces TCA to opening night win

The Christian Academy tipped off its 2021 season Saturday evening with a 50-47 Bicentennial League win over Plumstead Christian.

Malachi Lyons led a balanced scoring attack with 11 points and six rebounds. Noelson Chery tossed in 10 points. Brian Justus and Lars Specht added eight apiece for the Crusaders.

ROUNDUP: Cobb goes long, Springfield takes down Haverford

TC Cobb’s clutch 3-point shooting in the fourth quarter propelled Springfield to a big victory over Haverford, 46-40.

What a difference a year makes for the Cougars, who notched one win last season. The Fords are defending league champions.

Cobb finished with 18 points and drilled two 3s in the final quarter to give the Cougars the lead. Springfield outscored Haverford in the second half, 29-15.

Nick Colucci led the Fords with 10 points.

Upper Darby 38, Penncrest 34 >> AJ Tucker netted 12 points and Shareef Jones Jr. tossed in 11 for the visiting Royals, who outscored the Lions, 10-6, in the final stanza. Saahir Lee tallied a game-high 14 points for Penncrest.

CHESTER 58, CHESTER CHARTER SA 48 » Kyree Womack tallied six of his 10 points in overtime as the Clippers outlasted the Sabers. Fareed Burton Jr led the Clippers with 19 points and senior Jameel Burton Jr chipped in with 15 points.

Davon Stovall dropped in 21 points to lead all players. Stovall’s 3-ball with 6.7 seconds left in regulation forced OT.

Chichester beats Penn Wood again

Josh Hankins scored a game high 19 points as Chichester scored a second consecutive win over Penn Wood, 57-50, Thursday.

Hankins was held to just two points in Tuesday’s win for the Eagles, but he made up for that Thursday, hitting three 3-pointers in the third quarter to help Chi absorb Penn Wood’s best punch and keep them in touch, down seven entering the fourth. The Eagles outscored Penn Wood, 17-3, in the final eight minutes.

Maz Sayed added 11 points, and all six of Ramir McDowell’s points came in the fourth quarter for Chi.

Abdul Dublin scored eight of his team-high 14 points in that third quarter surge for the Patriots. Sayo Kenneth and Evan Borward scored eight a-piece.
