Radnor’s boys basketball team ended the regular season in its usual manner.

Jackson Hicke supplied 19 points, six assists and five rebounds to lead the Raptors to a 70-50 drubbing of Ridley.

Wednesday’s victory was the 19th of the season for the Raptors, who are the No. 2 seed in the Central League playoffs. Radnor and No. 1 Lower Merion received a first-round bye in the tournament, which gets under way Thursday.

Cooper Mueller added nine points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Charlie Thornton and Will Remphrey each supplied eight points.

In nonleague games:

INTERBORO 57, OXFORD 34 » Zakee Brooks poured in 20 points as the Bucs (5– 14) squashed the host Hornets. Brooks canned a trio of 3-pointers.

Abu Kamara managed 10 points and Gavin Walls posted six points, eight rebounds and five assists.

BARRACK HEBREW ACADEMY 70, PHELPS SCHOOL 46 » Danny Cohen provided 20 points and Max Hirsch tossed in 16 for the Cougars. Yonatan Hassidim chipped in with 12 points.

Girls Basketball

Brielle Wright scored 13 points and Melana Timmes was a rebound shy of a double- double, but Sun Valley lost to Rustin, 63-38.

Timmes finished with 11 points, nine rebounds and two assists for the Vanguards (9-11). Jaina Preuch added six points, three assists and three steals.

All games are set for the Central League Championship series and Delcohoops.com will bring you one quarter-final (girls), one semi-final (boys) and both Boys and Girls Championship game on Monday February 14th.

Even after he’d had a few minutes to digest it, Ben Stanton still couldn’t get over the roller-coaster ride he and his teammates had just endured.

“That was the craziest game I’ve been a part of, I think, in my high school career,” the Penncrest senior said after a 46-45 win. “The technicals, the crazy game-winner, the whole atmosphere, it was awesome. It was so fun.”

The stakes were indeed large at Marple Newtown High School, the host Tigers and visiting Lions not just neighbors and rivals but the final two teams left for the sixth and final spot in the Central League playoffs. Winner was in, loser was out, though not done for the season. Also on the line were key points in the District 1 5A seeding race, with Marple coming in No. 2 in the district and Penncrest several spots below, aiming for a top-four seed and the bye that comes with it. 

Mix in two large student sections positioned right next to one another — Marple’s taking up one entire baseline, Penncrest’s students filling up the section behind its own bench — and the atmosphere was ripe for a good one.

Everybody in attendance certainly got that, and then some.

If you picked the right moment Tuesday night, you would’ve caught Ryan Faccenda gazing up into the face of Michael Walz on an inbounds play.

In trying to defend the 6-foot-10 Conestoga forward, Faccenda was looking for any hint, any glance by the Richmond commit that would betray which way a pass would come. For the 6-1 Faccenda, an early alert as to a possible entry pass would be precious information.

The more indelible expression from Walz – and the one easier to spot for those in Garnet Valley’s gym – was one Faccenda didn’t have time to savor. It came when Faccenda – not once, not twice, but three times – in the fourth quarter blew by Walz on the offensive end to bank home buckets vital to the preservation of Garnet Valley’s season.

Faccenda scored six points in Garnet Valley’s perfect-shooting final frame to rally past Conestoga for a 41-38 win that keeps alive their hopes of a District 1 playoff berth.

Mary Sareen was fouled on her way to the basket with less than 90 seconds to go in the fourth quarter Tuesday.

The junior made the shot and the free throw. The home crowd came alive. Sareen and her Radnor teammates started to believe they could pull this off. Springfield had led by as many as seven points in the fourth quarter, but suddenly Radnor trailed by a point.

This wasn’t just another regular season game for the Raptors. There was a lot of incentive that would come with winning it.

During the school day the team found out that senior forward Ellie Davis, one of the top bigs in the Central League, would not be available due to illness. If Radnor could beat first-place Springfield and Conestoga lost to Garnet Valley, the Raptors would get the sixth and final seed in the Central League tournament, which begins Thursday night.

Nadir Myers was the leading man for Upper Darby Monday. He hit five 3-pointers and scored 25 points en route to a 64-54 home win over Boyertown. The Royals outscored the Bears by 13 points after halftime. Khysir Slaughter added 10 points and Niymire Brown chipped in with eight. Myers also shot 6-of-8 from the free-throw line.

LINCOLN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY 66, DELCO CHRISTIAN 55 » Josh Park dropped 20 points, but the Knights gave up 26 in the fourth quarter and fell at home. Josh Dell’Arciprete pitched in with 11 points. Jace Kees and Caelb Jameson each had eight for DC. In the Catholic League:

ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 67, FATHER JUDGE 54 » Trailing by eight at the half, the Patriots (11-8) rallied past the Crusaders on the back of several contributors. Moses Hipps led the way with 21 points and Dean Coleman-Newsome tossed in 16. Jake West added 10 points, while Shawnn Smith and Harold Ivery had nine points each.

Girls Basketball

Gaeli Keffer-Scharpf’s excellence from the charity stripe helped Episcopal Academy earn a 49-34 victory over Merion Mercy. The junior power forward was 11-for-13 from the line on the way to a game-high 23 points. She scored at least four points in each quarter. Bella Pisseli contributed 12 points for the Churchwomen, who outscored Merion by nine points in the second half.

MARPLE NEWTOWN 57, ARCHBISHOP RYAN 44 » Senior guard Nikki Mostardi had a huge night with 26 points as the Tigers won their 14th game. Brooke Impriano added to the winning cause with 12 points. Mary O’Brien chipped in seven.

SACRED HEART 33, CALVARY CHRISTIAN 22 » The Lions recovered from a slow first half and closed the game on a 29-12 run. Ainsley Davis scored nine points and Grace Brown added eight to lead a balanced effort. In the Central League:

RIDLEY 31, CONESTOGA 27 » Kyla Carney scored 11 points, including a two free throws in the second half, as the Green Raiders ground out a big win on the road. Kailyn Bell netted six points and Emily Liberio had five for Ridley (10-10). In the Ches-Mont:
