The Chester Clippers turned the clock ahead a day early in their 79-38 romp over Carlisle in a PIAA Class AAAA boys basketball opener Saturday at Coatesville High.

After a close and competitive first quarter the Thundering Herd looked like those folks caught in the Daylight Savings time warps who show up an hour late for everything.

The Herd scored 19 points and stayed within a free throw of the Clippers in the first quarter. The Clippers limited them to just 19 total points in the final three frames.

“I think we were hitting on all cylinders today and I think we controlled the tempo of the game with our defenses,” Clippers coach Larry Yarbray said. “We did a lot of changing up in the first few quarters. We came out in man-to-man and a little bit of press. We wanted to wear No. 5 down and 23 and hopefully get them in foul trouble so we could take advantage of our bigs.”
