Anabel Kreydt paced a balanced attack with 10 points to lift Springfield to a 43-35 victory over Penncrest in Central League girls basketball action Friday.

Kaitlyn Kearney added nine points and Mia Valerio and Taylor Hunyet pitched in with six points each for the Cougars.

Bailey Garrison and Chloe Griffiths topped Penncrest with 10 points each.

Emily Huggins chipped in with eight.

RIDLEY 60, LOWER MERION 32 » Kaitlyn Bell tossed in 17 points as the Green Raiders beat the Aces for the second time in as many days.

Payton Berger chipped in with 15 points and Kyla Carney 10. Ridley had knocked off Lower Merion 47-17, on Thursday.

In the Inter-Ac League:

EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 52, SPRINGSIDECHESTNUTHILL 18 » Riley Cassidy scored eight of her game-high 10 points in the first quarter as the Churchwomen jumped out to a 20-2 advantage and never looked back.

Taylor Hammond added nine points and Riley Thibodeau chipped in with seven.

In nonleague action:

SUN VALLEY 50, MORRISVILLE 22 » Olivia Hoy and Jaina Preuhs filled up the stat sheet to keep the Vanguards’ District 1 Class 5A playoff hopes alive.

Hoy collected 11 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists and Preuhs added 10 points, seven boards, five steals, three assists and a blocked shot to pace the Vanguards to their third straight win. Alicia Whitfield (four assists, five steals) and Melana Timmes (seven rebounds) chipped in eight points each.

With plenty on the line, Annie Aspesi stepped up. 

Harriton’s home game against Marple Newtown on Friday afternoon, moved up a few hours due to weather, was crucial for both Rams and Tigers, not only for their standing in a tight bunch at the top of the Central League but in the ever-more-important District 1 5A rankings. There was also the matter of some revenge, with Marple having handed Harriton a four-point win at Marple earlier in the season.

So while the early start time and pouring rain kept the crowds away, there was plenty of tension inside Harriton’s gym as the hosts took a two-point lead into the fourth quarter. 

It didn’t seem to bother Aspesi.

Chichester did their best with a very aggressive offense and defense but just couldn’t find the answer to a powerful Penn Wood team as Penn Wood defeats Chichester, 66 -43, in last night’s Boy’s Game-of-the-Week on Delcohoops.com.

Evan Borward and Anthony Murray buoyed the Patriots with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Sahmir Massenburg and Naeem Purnell added nine each.

Ahkir Keys made a trio of 3-pointers in the second half and finished with 15 points for the Eagles, who trailed 29-20 at halftime. Eddie Swinton had 11 points.

Interboro’s eight-year losing streak to Academy Park is over.

Zakee Brooks produced 22 points as the Bucs defeated the Knights for the first time since 2014 with their 84-65 victory Thursday. Interboro began the game on an 18-0 run and led 72-43 after three quarters.

Dylan Granato posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Abu Kamara chipped in 15 points and Dom Gunter had 11.

The Bucs’ two Del Val League wins are their most in eight years.

In nonleague action:

CHESTER 68, CHRISTIANA 35 » The Clippers were in control from the opening tip and held a 47-13 advantage at halftime. Lorenzo Jerkins led a balanced effort with 15 points. Kyree Womack ended with 13 points and Kevin Rucker had eight points.

CHURCH FARM SCHOOL 63, DELCO CHRISTIAN 52 » Josh Parks poured in a game-high 27 points for the Knights, who were outscored by 22-10 in the final period. Josh Dell’Arciprete added eight points.

Sacred Heart Academy freshman Grace Brown had the biggest moment of her young basketball career Thursday.

Brown hit the game-winning 3-point field goal as time expired in regulation to give the Lions a 31-30 victory over MaST Charter. Freshman MJ Donohue had the assist.

Ainsley Davis led SHA with nine points and Brown finished with six. The Lions outscored MaST Charter, 24-13, in the second half.

In the Catholic League:

ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 53, NEUMANN-GORETTI 46 » The Patriots (15-4, 8-0) rallied from five points down in the fourth quarter to gain sole possession of first place in the Catholic League.

Carroll outscored Goretti, 18-10, in the final quarter. Taylor Wilson led the charge with 27 points and her sister, Brooke, scored eight of her 14 points in the fourth period. Grace O’Neill recorded 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

CARDINAL O’HARA 66, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 50 » The Lions bounced back from Tuesday’s setback at Archbishop Carroll and dealt the Crusaders their first league loss.

On senior night, fourth year players Maggie Doogan scored 25 points and Sydni Scott added 13. Annie Welde had 15 points and Molly Rullo 11.

Trailing 32-31 at halftime, the Lions seized control with a 21-6 run in the third quarter. Gabby Casey scored a game-high 26 points for LC.

In the Del Val League:

PENN WOOD 61, CHICHESTER 46 » Xenia Gillis produced 22 points and Ani Roscoe put up 17 for the Patriots as they outscored Chi. Dujwana Jones (14 points) and Marisa Taylor (11) scored in double figures for the Eagles.

ACADEMY PARK 44, INTERBORO 16 » The Knights jumped out to a 15-2 lead after eight minutes and never looked back. Jada Kinlaw dominated with 12 points, 15 rebounds and three steals. Alaysia Kinlaw and Emani Banks finished with eight points each.

Shakira Orr paced the Bucs with seven points.

In the Inter-Ac League:

EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 46, BALDWIN 25 » EA’s Gaeli Keffer-Scharpf had 10 of her team-high 16 points in the second quarter. Riley Cassidy netted 14 points for the Churchwomen.

Kaya Weiser finished with 23 of Baldwin’s 25 points.

In the Central League:

RADNOR 50, STRATH HAVEN 35 » The Raptors kept the good times rolling.

After a dramatic last-second win over Marple Newtown Tuesday, Mary Sareen registered 16 points and five steals to lead the Raptors past the Panthers. Ellie Davis managed nine points and eight rebounds for Radnor. Caroline Monahan and Ava Gummel added seven points apiece.

Freshmen Maryella Gill (nine points) and Olivia Voshell (six points, seven rebounds) played well for Haven. Senior Zoe Trotter contributed seven points and six rebounds.

RIDLEY 47, LOWER MERION 16 »

Emily Liberio’s 10 points led an all-around solid effort by the Green Raiders, who held the Aces scoreless in the middle periods. Kyla Carney and Kailyn Bell chipped in seven points apiece.

The feeling came in August during the open workouts that something special was brewing. The Archbishop Carroll girls’ basketball team didn’t mind the heat or the sweat. They embraced it. It told them they were working hard.

It’s when an underlying attitude began to form that this team could make a deep state playoff run. They had no doubt about that.

More proof came Thursday night, when the Patriots fought off numerous charges from tiny, feisty Neumann-Goretti in a 53-46 Catholic League victory.

Carroll, behind a game-high 26 points from Taylor “Wilt” Wilson, 14 from her sister Brooke and 13 from Grace O’Neill, improved to 12-4 overall and remained perfect in the Catholic League at 8-0, while Neumann-Goretti fell to 6-6 and 2-2 in the league.

This is where the Carroll players expected themselves to be. In this last month, the Patriots have made believers of the rest of the Catholic League. The Pats have beaten league stalwarts Cardinal O’Hara, Archbishop Wood and now Neumann-Goretti.
