Springfield received strong efforts from Quideer Wimes and Kevin McCormick as it earned a hard-fought 59-44 victory Tuesday over Garnet Valley in a Central League boys basketball game.
Wimes had 12 points and seven rebounds, leading Cougars to their fourth win of the year, against three losses. They are 2-3 in league play. McCormick had eight points and seven rebounds. Nick Fox hit double figures, with 10 points.
Springfield outscored Garnet Valley 23-16 in the fourth quarter, as Fox and Brian McCloskey combined to hit seven of nine foul shots to ice the game.Andrew Louden (20 points) led Garnet Valley.
