Julian Wing scored a game-high 15 points and Brett Foster added 13 as the Green Raiders turned on the defense after halftime to score a 47-25 win over Cardinal O’Hara in championship game of the Ridley Holiday Tournament.

Jaye’Lyn Peebles led the way for O’Hara (4-5) with 14 points, but Ridley (9-0) limited the Lions to just 10 points after halftime.

Carl Tienabeso didn’t have his usual shooting night, but when Garnet Valley needed him, he came through.

Tienabeso hit all five of his free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter en route to a 7-for-7 day at the stripe and 13 points to lead Garnet Valley to a 60-56 win over Lansdale Catholic in the Varsity Club Tournament championship game.

Andrew Louden scored 19 points to earn tournament MVP honors, and Brandon Starr’s 11 points landed him on the all-tournament team for the Jaguars (7-2).

Imhotep coach Andre Noble was really concerned about one statistic when his team faced Chester on Tuesday night.

“They’re an athletic team, and we thought if we could win on rebounding, we’d win the game,” Noble said. “And if we lost that battle, we’d lose the game.”

The Panthers outrebounded Chester by 10, and just as Noble predicted, they also outscored them, 67-54 on Day 1 of the Jameer Nelson Classic at Widener University.

The leading rebounder in the game was Imhotep junior Koby Thomas, who had 11 boards as the Panthers held a 34-24 advantage on the glass. Thomas didn’t just rebound, however. The 6-foot-6 forward also recorded a double-double with a team-best 13 points – a handful of which came via putbacks on the offensive end.

As Doug Costin shuffled to the bench with five minutes to play Tuesday night and a win securely in hand, the Bishop Shanahan center had plenty of time to ponder just how comprehensive a performance his Eagles had fashioned.

Shanahan throttled Bonner-Prendergast, 62-39, in the final of the Marple Newtown Holiday Tournament, thoroughly dominating every aspect of the affair from start to finish.

By the time Costin took his final walk to the sidelines, the damage was prolific: 13 points, 14 rebounds, a team-high four assists in orchestrating a devastating high-low offense and the kind of defensive post presence that completely unseated any plan of attack Bonner could’ve entered with.
