The question, as Mo Nelson hears it, requires no clarification.

Sitting in Widener’s gym Tuesday night, watching the next generation of Chester boys basketball players carve out their place in the lineage of one of Pennsylvania’s most storied hoops programs, the answer was obvious.

“It runs through the blood,’ Nelson said, between duties representing his brother and the memory of his father at the Jameer and Pete Nelson Classic. “It runs in the genes. You just try to help them out, try to make them do better than we did.’

The 10th installment of the classic that bears his family’s name has special significance. At it, Nelson can witness the growth of both his families, his Chester family and his Nelson family.
