It’s a situation that Garnet Valley hasn’t found itself in too often this year.
When the Jaguars returned more than 80 percent of their scoring from a team that challenged for a district spot last year after posting three straight one-win seasons, expectations were unnaturally high for a team so light on recent postseason pedigree.
Gone are the days of merely hoping for multiple-win seasons, replaced with a realistic desire to be one of the 32 teams playing for a District One Class AAAA title … and more. And while the Jaguars have some work to do before they get there, Tuesday night’s 64-53 overtime Central League win over a scrappy Marple Newtown team is the type of win that they’ll need to show them how to pull out a close one.
