Girls & Boys Basketball Roundup – Scott scores 15, O’Hara beats Bethlehem

Girls Basketball

Cardinal O’Hara had no trouble overcoming Bethlehem Catholic Monday evening in a rematch of a 2021 PIAA Class 5A quarterfinal playoff game.

All-Delco senior guard Sydni Scott tallied 15 points to lead the Lions to a 48-29 road win.

O’Hara outscored the Eagles, 30-11, in the second half after the game was tied 18-18 at intermission.

Annie Welde scored 11 points and Bridget Dawson chipped in with eight for the Lions.

The Lions had defeated the reigning District 11 champions, 64-55, on the way to a PIAA Class 5A state title last year.

Boys Basketball

Jake West stepped up in crunch time for Bonner-Prendergast Monday. West scored 16 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, to help the Friars to their ninth win of the season with a 53-43 decision over St. Joseph’s Prep in Catholic League action.

Khaire Dixon and Seamus Rodgers excelled off the bench for B-P.

Defense lifts Bonner-Prendie to win over Haverford School

Bonner-Prendergast relied on its defense until the offense got going against Haverford School Friday.

The Friars held the Fords to single digits in the first three quarters and that gave the offense time to heat up and pull out a 53-35 victory.

Bonner-Prendie outscored Haverford School, 35-16, in the second and third quarters to climb out of a 9-6 hole in the first period. Shakur Smith led MBAP with a game-high 18 points. Baasil Sanders and Brady Egan pitched in with 11 points each.

Dave Kearney topped Haverford School with 11 points.
