At times this season, the memory may have seemed silly, may have felt to some in the Interboro community like a windmill they couldn’t even dream of tilting at.
But when that memory came flooding back to Mike McDevitt Tuesday in the delirium that pervaded Interboro’s gym, the anecdote only added to the joy of the moment.
“After the game, we talked about it, and I think this is what we all worked for,’ McDevitt said. “I can remember my sophomore year on the bus back from Chester, Christian (Irons) told me, ‘˜hey, we’re going to get them before we graduate.’ And it took until Senior Day, but we did.’
The “them’ was Chester, and the moment McDevitt and his five fellow seniors had worked an entire career for was Tuesday’s 73-62 upset of the Clippers, the first time the Bucs have beaten them since 1978.
