Springfield coach Kevin McCormick has a saying about his team that he likes to trot out for nights like Friday.
“Our motto,’ he said, “is that our depth is only an advantage if we make our depth an advantage.’
In the nightly grind of the Central League, affairs like Friday’s meeting with Radnor are the kinds of games that can test that mantra. And the Cougars passed with flying colors.
Led by 14 points from Brian McCloskey, the Cougars’ reserves paced Springfield to a 57-37 win over the Raiders in the kind of slow-paced, mistake-riddled game that could leave a team that’s superior on paper like Springfield vulnerable.
