The PIAA District 1 Class AAAA boys’ basketball tournament is arguably more wide open than it has been in decades.

That’s largely because usual powerhouse Chester, which has claimed 11 of the last 13 titles, has struggled most of the year. The 13-9 Clippers lost Khaleeq Campbell to a torn anterior cruciate ligament Dec. 29 and have been hurt by inconsistent guard play.

Here’s our take on how the district’s Class AAAA playoffs will shake out, with the predicted order of finish. Ten teams will advance to the state tournament. The madness begins Friday night.

We expect all but three of the higher seeds to advance to the second round Tuesday.
