From the start Friday night, it seemed like Glen Mills’ PIAA Class AAA opener would belong to Susquehanna’s Dejour Williams.
By the end of the evening, there would be no doubt.
Williams canned six 3-pointers as part of his 32 points in leading Susquehanna, the District 3 champion, to a 73-53 win over Glen Mills at Harrisburg High School.
Williams started quickly with 15 points in the first quarter and scored 21 in the first half. He teamed with Nehemiah Mack to score 19 of the Indians’ 21 first-quarter points.
In the third quarter, when the Indians (21-6) pulled away, Mack and Williams combined for 16 points as Susquehanna outscored Glen Mills, 24-11. They started the quarter on a 22-5 run.
Mack finished with 22 points while Quintin Ward scored nine to go with 10 rebounds.
Nothing seemed to be working after halftime for Glen Mills. Steven Welsh scored 10 of his team-high 16 points after the break, but they were outscored 41-22. Tyrique Lyons, who scored nine points in the first half, and Anthony Johnson, who had seven first-half points, were each shut out after the break.
Nazheer Sabree finished with nine points and Imhotep Davis added eight points for the Battlin’ Bulls (18-8).
