Girls: AP starts fast, finishes with Del Val title

Academy Park didn’t waste any time wrapping up the outright Del Val League girls basketball title. The Knights scored the first 22 points of the game to roll to a 66-31 victory over Chester Thursday night and lock up the championship.

Semaji Young, Jada Wilson and Akira Hill combined for 37 points for AP. Young led the way with 13 points, while Wilson and Hill contributed 12 apiece.

Jamyra Muhammad topped Chester with seven points, while Tinijah Bust and Rashara Kelly added six points each. In the Central League quarterfinals:

GARNET VALLEY 47, HARRITON 30 » The fifth seeded Jaguars held the fourth-seeded Rams to 13 points in the second half to advance to the semifinals against top-seeded Haverford at noon on Saturday.

Haylie Adamski led the offense with 17 points. Ava Possenti contributed 12 points, seven steals and five rebounds. Emily Olsen added 10 points and seven boards.
