Mike Doyle simply was not going to be denied Monday night.
The Penncrest senior scored a game-high 33 points, including a 15-for-17 effort from the free throw line, as the Lions staved off Henderson’s comeback bid in a 70-62 win in the final of the Penncrest Holiday Tournament.
Nolan Carroll added 11 points, including knocking down three 3-pointers, and Chandler Henry posted a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds, both earning all-tournament honors for the Lions (7-3). Penncrest shot 39 free throws in the second half, and Doyle, the tournament’s MVP, was 9-for-12 at the stripe in the fourth quarter in a game Penncrest led by 15 after three quarters.
