One All-Delco matchup highlights the first round of the District One Class AAAA playoffs.
No. 28 seed Penncrest (13-9) will head to No. 5 Penn Wood (17-5) in the first round, which begins Friday night. The winner of that game gets the winner of No. 21 Council Rock North and No. 12 Lower Merion. Penn Wood and Lower Merion played an 8-9 game in the second round last year.
Those are two of the seven Delco teams participating in the Class AAAA tournament.
The last team in among the Delco contingent is Marple Newtown (13-9), which draws the No. 31 seed and a trip to No. 2 Methacton.
Academy Park (16-6) is denied a home game as the No. 17 seed, having to travel to No. 16 Oxford for the first round. Winner likely gets top seed Conestoga in the second round.
Ridley (18-5) is the No. 9, which means they’ll host No. 24 West Chester Rustin in the first round. The winner of that game will get the winner of No. 25 Great Valley and No. 8 C.B. West.
Springfield (14-8) is the No. 20 seed, facing a trip to No. 13 West Chester Henderson. The winner of that game gets the winner of No. 29 Cheltenham vs. No. 4 Plymouth Whitemarsh.
Defending District One champ Chester (13-9) draws the No. 11 seed and a visit from No. 22 Hatboro-Horsham. Chester’s quest for another states berth will likely take them through Abington, with the No. 6 seed hosting No. 27 North Penn in the first round. The high seed in that quadrant of the bracket is No. 3 Pennridge.
