Nick Czechowicz isn’t offended when defenses don’t flock to him.
The Ridley senior guard understands how defenses tend to space themselves in the halfcourt against the Green Raiders, how they most often collapse on Ameer Staggs in the low post or run out to pressure the ball when it’s in the hands of Brett Foster.
That leaves space for Czechowicz right near the free throw line. Just where he likes it.
“That’s my favorite place,’ he said. “I like doing the little pull-up, elbow range.’
Czechowicz’s ability to exploit that space Monday night helped propel Ridley to a 55-37 rout of Interboro at the Ridley Holiday Tournament.
Czechowicz scored 11 points, including six in the third quarter, to fuel a vital 11-2 run that ballooned a four-point lead at the half to a 15-point margin after three quarters.
