As the final week of the District One regular season beckons, Archbishop Carroll remains the lone Delco team represented in the Pennsylvania Class AAAA and AAA rankings, as compiled by PennLive.
The Patriots (13-5) have held steady most of the season at No. 2 in Class AAA, trailing only Neumann-Goretti, to which the Carroll lost on a buzzer-beater, 71-69, 10 days ago. Carroll’s only two losses in the league have come to NG, the top team in Class AAA, and Roman Catholic (18-1), Class AAAA’s top team.
The Patriots had a partial role in returning Roman to the summit in Class AAAA by knocking off last week’s No. 1 team, La Salle (16-4), by a comfortable 69-57 margin last Sunday. That loss, plus a setback at the hands of Archbishop Wood (16-4) that elevates the Vikings to No. 10 in Class AAAA, means the Explorers slid back to No. 2. La Salle is the only team to have beaten Roman this season.
