Boys & Girls: Edwards leads Haven past Holy Ghost

Jack Edwards picked a great day to have a career day.

Edwards scored 24 points, including 16 in the first half, as Strath Haven downed Holy Ghost Prep, 50-43, in a game at the Chase Fieldhouse in Wilmington.

Edwards hit four 3-pointers. Jaden Jauregui added 13 points, and Chase Nangle added eight points.

In other nonleague action:

MILLBROOK SCHOOL 52, EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 36 » Kevin McCarthy scored 11 points, and TJ Lamb added nine, but the Churchmen (2-8) fell for the third straight game at the Mercer Tournament at the Hill School.

DEVON PREP 72, HAVERFORD SCHOOL 65 » Dave Kearney scored 18 points, and Carson Mastin paired 13 points with 12 rebounds, but the Fords fell in overtime Saturday night. Matt Kearney and Dan Springman added 14 points each for Haverford School.

Lucas Orchard’s 24 points led the way for Devon Prep.

Josh Parks pared 30 points with 17 rebounds, but the rest of the Knights never got going in the Saturday setback.

Caleb Johnson added nine points off the bench for Delco Christian (3-2).

Girls Basketball

Grace O’Neill went off for 19 points, but Archbishop Carroll fell to Long Island Lutheran, 44-40, at this week’s edition of the She Got Game Tournament in Holmdel, N.J.

Maggie Grant chipped in 10 points for Carroll (33). Taylor Wilson was limited to two 3-pointers for six points.
