Whatever message coach Paul Romanczuk had for his players Monday night at halftime of Archbishop Carroll’s Catholic League battle with Archbishop Wood certainly must have left a lasting impression.
The Patriots exploded in the second half and made a once-tight contest seem laughable with a 83-52 rout of the Vikings.
With the score even at intermission, the Patriots (15-2, 5-1) outscored host Wood, 54-23, over the final two quarters. Derrick Jones led the charge with 21 points and 10 boards, while Ernest Aflakpui chipped in 15 points and six rebounds.
Austin Tilghman had a fine all-around game with 14 points and eight assists, while Joe Mostardi nailed three shots from beyond the arc.
