The operative word at Archbishop Carroll’s practice Monday was “aggressive.”

Point guard Austin Tilghman, in assessing his gutsy 25-point performance in the Patriots’ Jan. 29 loss to Neumann-Goretti, knew his aggressiveness getting to the basket informed his success.

For All-Delco forward Derrick Jones, an uptick in his aggressiveness has fueled a four-game stretch in which he has averaged 20 points per game.

And aggression is precisely what the No. 3 seed Patriots will need Wednesday night if they are to wrest control of the Catholic League away from No. 2 Neumann-Goretti, the five-time reigning league champion, in their semifinal date at the Palestra.
