Buoyed by 15 points and 11 rebounds from Ernest Aflakpui and 13 points, seven rebounds and two blocks from All-Delco Derrick Jones, the Patriots upended Carlisle (Va.), 54-47, at the Chick-fil-A Classic in Columbia, S.C.
With the game tied at 41 with five minutes to go, Josh Sharkey zipped a pass to Aflakpui, who tossed down a dunk to give Carroll a lead it would never relinquish. Aflakpui and Jones were joined in double-digit scoring by Austin Tilghman, who netted 11 points and snared eight rebounds.
