The conversation at halftime between Archbishop Carroll coach Paul Romanczuk and center Ernest Aflakpui was brief. And most of it didn’t need to be articulated.
“I knew I didn’t come out hard enough,” the 6-9 junior said. “I didn’t go hard enough at him. That was it. After halftime, I figured it out — and my coach also told me I didn’t play hard enough.”
That was rectified in the second half, in a big way.
Changing the focus of Carroll’s attack to Abington Heights’ foul-troubled post, the Patriots were able to win a back-and-forth affair, 59-55, in the second round of the PIAA Class AAA Tournament at Parkland High School Tuesday.
