Boys: Chester beats cross-town rival, but may finish on that note

In what may be nothing more than a consolation prize for the 2022-23 season, Chester won its crosstown battle on Saturday afternoon, a 78-51 decision over Chester Charter Scholars Academy.

Terrence Cobb scored 24 points and Kyree Womack added 23 for the Clippers (12-10). Dominic Toy added 11 points. The win is likely not enough to see Chester jump from the high-20s into the 24-team field for the District 1 Class 6A tournament. Seeds will be official on Sunday.

Kevin Miller led CCSA with 15 points. Zach Howard scored seven points to go with 10 rebounds. The Sabers (17-5) are the top seed in the District 1 Class A playoffs, which start Feb. 21.
