Chester stared at a two-point deficit Tuesday evening in its District 1 Class 6A playback semifinal. Its response was swift.
The Clippers turned that deficit into a 13-point edge by the end of the third quarter on the way to a 73-59 win over Methacton.
The win moves No. 6 Chester (19-5) into the fifth-place game for state seeding. That will be played Thursday at Norristown High School at 7. Norristown, the five seed, downed No. 8 Perkiomen Valley, 41-36, Tuesday.

The Clippers did their work at the line, going 17-for-18 at the charity stripe, including 12-for-12 in the fourth quarter. Chester hit No. 7 Methacton with a 21-6 run in the third quarter that swung the game decisively in the Clippers’ favor.
Michael Smith led the way with 22 points for Chester, including 11-for-11 from the line. He added five rebounds, four steals and three assists. Akeem Taylor
had an outstanding game with 19 points, six rebounds and four blocks.
Rahmee Gilbert added 13 points, and Rahmaad DeJarnette chipped in nine points. The Clippers had just four turnovers, none in the first half.
The Warriors hit five first-half 3-pointers to carry a 32-30 edge into intermission. Erik Timko led Methacton with 20 points. Jeff Woodward chipped in 15 points, and David Duda added 10.
