For the second year in a row, the La Salle College High School Explorers needed to win a play-in game to reach the PIAA AAAA tournament.

And, after winning that play-in game for the second consecutive year, the Explorers are once again taking full advantage of their trip to the state playoffs.

In the second round of the PIAA AAAA playoffs held at Freedom High School in Bethlehem, the Explorers used a stingy defense, an effective full-court press, and a number of scoring runs to defeat Abington Heights 62-40 on Wednesday night.

Leading the way in the scoring column for the Explorers was Kitt Najee Walls with 14 points. Teammate Shane Stark contributed as well, putting up 10 points in the victory. Colgate-bound Dave Krmpotich also had 10 points, and he pulled down 5 rebounds as well.

The Comets were led by big man Tim Toro inside with 11 points and seven rebounds.
