Josh Townsend wasn’t happy with his performance Wednesday.

The West Catholic forward was limited to just one rebound by Roman Catholic, the top-ranked Class AAA team in the state, in the Burrs’ last game. That meant the sophomore carried a little extra motivation in his gym bag on the way to Bonner-Prendergast Friday night.

“I had to show my coaches I could do better than that,’ Townsend said. “And I had to go out here and prove it. I was mad. I had to get some revenge.’

Show them, he did. Townsend finished with 11 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocked shots in absolutely dominating the paint and leading the Burrs to a 50-38 Catholic League win.

Townsend’s rebound total was impressive not just because of the 6-5 forward’s leaping ability and prowess at cleaning out the low block. He was given a lot of opportunities by a Bonner-Prendergast team that misfired all evening.
