Rory Tiedeman hit a 12-foot runner in the fourth quarter to give Sun Valley its first lead and later made a pair of free throws to help the Vanguards claim a 51-45 nonleague girls basketball win Friday at Pottsgrove High.
Tiedeman scored a game-high 15 points. Jaina Preuhs (11 points) and Brielle Wright (seven) each made key baskets in the final period.
The Vanguards (3-6) shot 11 of 14 from the free-throw line and outscored the host team, 16-8, in the fourth quarter.
In other nonleague action:
Sacred Heart 42, Upper Bucks Christian 23 » Keara McCaffery and the Lions used a 20-1 run in the second quarter to pull away from visiting UBC. McCaffery had a game-high 11 points and MJ Donohue contributed 10.
In the Inter-Ac League:
Episcopal Academy 47, Baldwin 6 » Nine players found the scoring column as EA earned its first win of the season.
Taylor Hammond and Bella Notaro led a balanced offense with eight points apiece. Elizabeth Hug and Anna Maloney both finished with seven points for the Churchwomen (1-8).
Boys Basketball
Five players reached double digits in scoring as Delaware County Christian School cruised past Calvary Christian, 78-46, in a Bicentennial League game.
Beau Lyren tallied a game-high 17 points for the Knights (5-4, 3-1), who had a 43-16 lead at halftime. Kamai Orange netted 13 points, Josiah Gaines and Cole Pruessner totaled 11 apiece, and Caleb Jameson chipped in 10.
In the Catholic League:
Bonner & Prendergast 39, La Salle 34 » The Friars outlasted the Explorers in a defensive battle and improved to 8-1 overall. Kevin Rucker Jr. led with 11 points.
In the Inter-Ac league:
Germantown Academy 70, Episcopal Academy 59 » GA’s Bryce Rollerson accounted for 11 points in the fourth period and led all scorers with 23.
The Churchmen’s Kevin McCarthy scored all 18 of his points after the first quarter. TJ Lamb ended with 16 points in the losing cause.
In the Del Val League:
Chichester 71, Interboro 41 » Vince Wildrickwas a 3-ball machine for the Eagles in a win over the Bucs late Thursday. Wildrick made five shots from long range in the opening quarter en route to a team-high 15 points. As a team Chi hit 10 treys.
Maz Sayed and Zailyn Keys each collected 12 points for the Eagles, who led 43-16 at halftime. Clay Hamza added nine points. Dorn Gunter paced the Bucs with 18 points.
