Emily Huggins led a balanced scoring effort with 11 points, and Bailey Garrison chipped in 10 points as Penncrest handled Sun Valley, 53-29, Saturday in the Media Tip-Off.
Kathryn Harding added eight points for the Lions (2-0), who had nine players score. Jaina Preuhs led Sun Valley with eight points.
Also at the Media Tip-Off: Strath Haven 38, Academy Park 29 >& gt; Rose Henry scored 16 points to go with 15 assists, and Laura Shea did a little of everything with seven points, five steals and five rebounds for the Panthers.
Jada Kinlaw and Alaysia Kinlaw scored seven points each for the Knights.
At the She Got Game Tournament:
NOTRE DAME 76, NORTH RALEIGH CHRISTIAN 47 » Maeve McErlane went off to the tune of 34 points, including six 3-pointers, as the Irish romped in Springfield, Va. Katie Halligan chipped in 16 points, and Julia Dever added three triples for nine points for the Irish.
ST. FRANCIS ACADEMY 37, ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 29» The Patriots led 18-11 at half but couldn’t hold on against the Maryland power.
Taylor Wilson led the way with 11 points, Maggie Grant supplied 10 and Brooke Wilson chipped in eight for the Patriots.
ST. MARY’S 41, CARDINAL O’HARA 39 » Maggie Doogan tallied 14 points and eight rebounds, and Sydni Scott added 14 points and three assists, but the Lions fell to their opponent from California.
At the Methacton Tip-Off:
RIDLEY 43, HARRITON 34 » Kailyn Bell and Kyla Carney scored 10 points apiece as the Green Raiders (1-1) downed the Rams in the consolation game. Peyton Berger and Emily Liberio contributed eight points each.

SPRING-FORD 45, SPRINGFIELD 36 » The reigning District 1 Class 5A champion Cougars opened their season with a tough overtime loss to the PIAA Class 6A runner-up Rams.
Lexi Aaron scored a career-high 20 points and Mia Valerio finished with seven for the Cougars, who were outscored 11-2 in the extra session.
MARPLE NEWTOWN 55, MERION MERCY 33 » Nikki Mostardi poured in a game-high 20 points to lead the Tigers (1-1). Haley Levy chipped in with 16 points and Brooke Impriano finished with nine.
UPPER DARBY 47, HARRY S.TRUMAN 37 » The game was stopped with 2:07 left in the fourth quarter Friday due to an altercation.
UD’s Aubrey Ennis drew a foul going to the basket which reportedly led to punches thrown by a Truman player. Ennis was struck in the face, but no players were seriously injured. The Royals were declared the winners, their first victory since the 2019-20 season.
Ennis produced 18 points, seven assists, four steals, five rebounds and one block. Alliyah Jean-Baptiste recorded a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds to go with three assists, two steals and two blocks. Rachel Fitzpatrick added 15 points and seven boards for the Royals.
