Girls: McCann’s day produces career in Bonner-Prendie loss

Bridie McCann had a game to remember Saturday.

The senior guard scored a career-high 30 points in Bonner-Prendergast’s 55-46 loss to West Catholic in both teams’ Catholic League opener. McCann couldn’t be stopped in the second half, scoring 14 points in the third quarter and nine in the fourth. She also shot 7-for-7 at the foul line.

Laila Farmer added 11 points for the Pandas.

In the Central League:

MARPLE NEWTOWN 36, HAVERFORD 31 » The Tigers (6-2, 5-1) rallied past the host Fords (72) for their fourth straight win. Down seven points at halftime, the Tigers closed the game on a 23-11 run. Ellie DiBona delivered a clutch 3-pointer to give the Tigers a two-point lead with a minute to go. Brooke Impriano produced a game-high 18 points and Nikki Mostardi poured in all 12 of her points in the second half.

Caroline Dotsey carried the Fords on offense with 15 points.

SPRINGFIELD 54, LOWER MERION 28 » Anabel Kreydt recorded a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds as the Cougars (6-2, 6-0) made it four straight wins.

Mia Valerio had a solid floor game with nine points, seven assists and five steals. Kaitlyn Kearney added 12 points and Grace Ellis contributed eight points and six rebounds.

HARRITON 49, UPPER DARBY 28 » The Rams built a 27-11 lead at halftime and never looked back. Maretta Smith had three 3-pointers and a game-high 15 points. Felicity Mcfillin chipped in with 13 points.

Curren Penot tallied a teamhigh eight points for the Royals. Kareema McCafferty and Alliyiah Jean-Baptiste added seven points apiece.

CONESTOGA61,STRATH HAVEN 30 » Katie Faither had 12 points and four assists, Katrina Valencia tossed in 11 points, and Kate Galica notched nine points, 10 rebounds, six assists and five steals for the Pioneers. For Strath Haven, junior guard Gianna Benson and Zoe Trotter (seven rebounds, four steals) scored 10 points each.

GARNET VALLEY 50, RADNOR 39 » Haylie Adamski scored 20 points and pulled down six rebounds and Emily Olsen issued a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards as the Jaguars scored early and often and cruised to the win.

Ava Possenti’s 12 points also contributed to the cause, as GV scored 25 points in both halves and didn’t allow Radnor to recover from a four-point first quarter. The Raptors were led by Ellie Davis, who scored 12 points.

In nonleague games:

ACADEMY PARK 41, CHELTENHAM 39 » The Knights made eight 3-point buckets and earned their first win of the season. Jada Kinlaw led with 11 points, Jayla Davis sank three triples for nine points, and Semaji Young added eight.

UNIONVILLE 49, INTERBORO 5 »

The Bucs trailed 28-2 after the first quarter and committed 38 turnovers on the day. Shakira Orr had three points and four rebounds.
