Girls: Aaron helps lift Springfield past Penncrest again, into Central semis

Lexi Aaron powered third-seeded Springfield to a 47-36 victory over Penncrest in a Central League quarterfinal game Thursday.

Aaron scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Cougars (19-4) to their second win over the Lions in three days. Springfield pinned a 44-27 loss on Penncrest Tuesday night. The win sends the Cougars into Saturday’s semifinals against second-seeded Conestoga. The Pioneers won the only meeting between the teams in the regular season.

Senior forward Anabel Kreydt produced eight points and 12 rebounds. Taylor Hunyet chipped in with seven points for the Cougars.

Emily Harrison paced the Lions (14-9) with 14 points. Bailey Garrison added eight points, while Cora Fattori and Kaitlyn Kearney had six apiece.

In the Catholic League:

Cardinal O’Hara 55, West Catholic 21 >> Molly Rullo tallied 17 points to help the Lions finish in a three-way tie for first place. O’Hara will be the third seed in the Catholic League playoffs based on tiebreakers and will face the Burrs next week in the quarterfinals. Joannie Quinn backed Rullo with 10 points, while Carly Coleman and Meg Rullo added six points each.

Lansdale Catholic 42, Archbishop Carroll 39 >> The Crusaders shot 10-for-13 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to hold off the Patriots and finish in a three-way tie for first place. Gabby Casey led LC with 21 points. Brooke Wilson topped Carroll with 19 points. Her sister Taylor chipped in with 16.

In nonleague action:

Unionville 55, Academy Park 24 >> The Longhorns jumped out to an 8-4 lead and never looked back. Elle Johnson paced Unionville with a game-high 16 points. Emani Banks scored 11 points and Alaysia Kinlaw added six in the season-finale for the Knights.
