Tansey helps Marple survive game Upper Darby challenge

The shots continued to fall for Marple Newtown Tuesday night. A fourth straight win came with them.

Mike Tansey hit four first-quarter 3-pointers on the way to a game high 24 points as Marple Newtown topped Upper Darby, 56-47.

The Tigers (8-5, 8-5 Central) led by 12 after one quarter and held off a game Upper Darby effort. Owen Mathes posted a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds. Eric McKee added seven points and eight boards.

CJ Dabbs led Upper Darby (2-4, 2-4) with 16 points. Shareef Jones chipped in 11 points.

Also in the Central League:

HAVERFORD 47, RADNOR 44 >> John Seidman scored 14 points as the Fords prevailed. Haverford (8-4, 8-4) led by eight after one quarter only to see Radnor tie it at halftime. Radnor led by two after three frames.

Hunter Kraiza added 11 points for Haverford. He and Will Higson (seven points) accounted for 14 points in the final frame. Danny Rosenblum led all scorers with 21 points for Radnor. Lew Robinson added 11.

RIDLEY 38, SPRINGFIELD 33 >> Josh Hagan scored six of his game-high 16 points in the fourth quarter as the Green Raiders used a 14-6 edge in the final eight minutes to rally.

Khali Henson scored eight points, and Austin McCaughan scored all five of his points in the fourth for Ridley (2-7, 2-7). AJ Grande led Springfield (4-10, 4-10) with 11 points.

CONESTOGA 55, PENNCREST 45 >> Saahir Lee (16 points) and Ben Stanton (13 points) hit three 3-pointers each, but the Lions were outscored 18-5 in the final quarter. Jordan Bochanski added nine points.

In the Inter-Ac League:

HAVERFORD SCHOOL 63, PENN CHARTER 46 >> Jameel Brown hit five 3-pointers for a game-high 25 points as the Fords (4-2, 4-2) led by 16 points after one quarter and never looked back. Christian Clover scored nine points.

SPRINGSIDE CHESTNUT HILL 67, EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 58 >> Will Delaney scored 22 points and Kevin McCarthy added 17, but the Blue Devils went 17-for-20 at the free throw line to win a battle of winless teams.

McCarthy hit five 3-pointers, and Delaney hit four for EA (0-7, 0-7). Will Lange chipped in two triples.
