New sport, Chester tradition growing on Adesina

Two years ago, Gabe Adesina didn’t know much about basketball. He didn’t know anything about the Clip Joint, about Chester’s storied history, about generations of famous basketball players wearing orange and black.

Now, as Chester embarks on its quest for another District One title, Adesina is a key figure, albeit one whose experience with the game of basketball is measured in months, not years.

The senior center is part and parcel of the change coach Larry Yarbray has endured this season in piloting a team featuring 10 new players and only one significant returning contributor from the district championship team of a season ago. But all that upheaval, all those new faces, have the Clippers in a position that has become almost its birthright: the District One Class AAAA semifinals, against No. 14 Rustin Tuesday night at Temple University.
