Upper Darby’s Yassir Joyner led all scorers with 25 points as the Royals put away a close game with a 32-13 margin in the third quarter, eventually running out to an 86-62 win over Harriton.
Niymire Brown hit four 3-pointers to tally 19 points. Nadir Myers chipped in 16 points, and Khysir Slaughter provided 15.
Marple Newtown 55, Haverford 53 » The Tigers went 12-for-16 from the line in the fourth quarter to hold off the Fords. Matt Gardler scored a team-high 16 points, including the Tigers’ only two baskets of the fourth quarter. Steven Tansey and Corrado Fischetti added nine points each. PJ Esposito added eight points.
Googie Seidman did his darndest to get help Haverford recoup an 11-point halftime deficit. He scored 23 of his game-high 27 points after the break, including 13 in the fourth quarter. Tommy Wright added 11 points.
