Taylor’s big second half fuels Chester to rout at Battle by the Bay

Akeem Taylor generated 24 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and three assists to help Chester claim a 75-53 win over St. Joseph’s (N.J.) Saturday at the Battle by the Bay tournament in Atlantic City.

Taylor netted 18 points in the second half.

The Clippers (16-3) began the game on a 25-5 run and led by 14 points at halftime. Karell Watkins amassed 23 points and eight rebounds, and Fareed Burton had eight of his 12 points in the opening quarter.

In other nonleague action:

Garnet Valley 77, Sun Valley 47 >> The Jaguars (19-1) recorded their 16th consecutive win.

Carl Schaller led the charge with 24 points and drilled six 3-pointers.

Neel Beniwal hit four triples and scored 15 of his 17 points in the third quarter. Gannon McKee and Justin Langan added 11 points apiece for the Jags, who exploded for 32 points in the third quarter.

Nick Gianakopoulos paced the Vanguards with 12 points.
