New faces were the spark in Chester’s win

Larry Yarbray doesn’t shy away from the truth about his team’s past.

There were times this season when the cupboard appeared too bare, the weight of history felt too hefty, the outlook too cloudy to adhere to the gold standard in Pennsylvania high school basketball.

Whatever the challenges, Yarbray and his players entered their names to the lexicon of Chester greats with a 52-49 win over Pennsbury Friday night. The style with which they surmounted a double-digit deficit to clinch the program’s fourth straight District One Class AAAA title typified the approach they’ve utilized all year.
