Lee, Atkinson-Boyer help Lions pay back Cougars

Saahir Lee scored 13 points, and Denzel Atkinson-Boyer added 12 as Penncrest held off a late charge to exact revenge on Springfield, 40-38, Thursday night.

Springfield had beaten Penncrest on Jan. 14. Ben Stanton added eight points for the Lions.

Terrence Cobb connected on three 3-pointers to lead the Cougars with 13 points. Michael Hoey added 11 points.

In other Central League boys games:

GARNET VALLEY 52, HAVERFORD 47 » Justin Langan scored four of his 13 points in overtime, and Carl Schaller poured in a game-high 22 points as the Jaguars prevailed in overtime.

Max Koehler added 10 points for Garnet Valley, which went 6-for-10 from the line in overtime.

A triple by JR Newman (13 points) provided Haverford’s only points of the extra session. John Seidman scored 16 points, and Nick Colucci added 10 points.

Luke Edwards scored 19 points, including an 8-for-8 free throw performance, and Matt Shuler (5-for-5) was similarly spotless from the line in tallying 14 points for the Panthers. Robbie Guilday chipped in 11 points.

Jackson Hicke showed his range with 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Lew Robinson added 14 points, and Danny Rosenblum chipped in nine.

Damont Hanton tallied 15 points, and Shareef Jones hit three 3-pointers to finish with 11, but the Royals couldn’t overcome a 33-10 deficit at halftime in the loss.

Michael Walz led 10 Conestoga scorers with 13 points.

In the Del Val League:

CHESTER 57, CHICHESTER 44 » Karell Watkins scored 17 points and corralled 17 rebounds, and Fareed Burton added 14 points as the Clippers held off the Eagles. Isaiah Freeman added 11 points.

Maz Sayed led the Eagles with 14 points. Ciyir Hancock chipped in nine points.

Abdullah Dublin’s four 3-pointers paved the way for a game-high 16 points as the Patriots scored 49 points in the first half in another quick start.

Evan Borward added 13 points, and Shamir Massenburg, Sayo Kenneth and Mekhi Shillingford provided 10 points apiece.

Abu Kamara led the Bucs with 14 points.

GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 57, EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 37 » Will Delaney scored 13 points, but a 26-11 surge by GA in the second quarter proved insurmountable.

Jake Jaszcz scored eight points and Sam Malloy added seven for EA in its opener.

Jake Hsu led GA with 17 points. Villanova commit Jordan Longino poured in 16 points.
