Chester High had to overcome a seemingly insurmountable deficit Saturday night at the Nations Capital Hoop Classic at Coolidge High School in Washington, D.C.

The Clippers were down by as many as 15 points in the fourth quarter before rallying to beat Capital Christian Academy (D.C.), 78-72. Chester erupted in the final moments of regulation, going on a 10-0 run over the final 50 seconds to claim the lead and, incredibly, the victory.

Chester trailed by 10 points with 1:42 to go before Mahir Johnson took over. The senior guard hit the go-ahead field goal with 14 seconds left and was 3-for-4 from the foul line down the stretch. Johnson ended up with a season-high 36 points, tying Nick Giordano of Marple Newtown for the most points in a game by a Delco boys basketball player this season.

Johnson registered 22 points in the final period alone as Chester put up 39 points in the fourth, equaling its total from the first three quarters combined.
