Ings’ strong showing can’t keep Bonner-Prendergast from loss

Danny Ings’ career night wasn’t enough to prevent Bonner-Prendergast from making some dubious history.

Ings poured in a season-high 29 points Monday night, but the Friars’ late comeback attempt fell short of bridging the gap in an 85-76 loss to Bishop McDevitt. The loss drops Bonner-Prendie to 2-20 on the season and 0-13 in the Philadelphia Catholic League, making the Friars the 50th team in Catholic League history to endure a winless campaign.

It’s the Friars’ first winless effort in the Catholic League since the 1996-97 campaign, which they followed up by finishing fourth the next season.

Jack Carden added 13 points for the Friars, and Tyler Higgins and Joey Quinn threw in 11 points each.
