Before the season, Austin Tilghman made it clear with his words that he transferred into Archbishop Carroll precisely for the challenge of games like Wednesday’s Catholic League tilt against Neumann-Goretti.
By his play Wednesday, in front of Carroll’s raucous capacity crowd, he proved it on the court.
The only thing preventing him from enjoying the thrill of a major Catholic League victory was Ja’Quan Newton.
Tilghman put the host Patriots on his back with 25 points, but they couldn’t stop Newton, with the Miami commit pouring in a game-high 29 to lead the Saints to a 64-58 win.
